WIPocalypse 2013 Results

Yes, I totally failed on the WIPocalypse for this year! I had a major stitching gap that lasted more than 6 months due to Disney planning and have just now started up again.

So lets first visit my 2013 goals:

I wanted to finish A Walk Through The Highlands, which I did, so SUCCESS. I started here:

And finished here:

A Summer Ball didn't even get close to finished, but I did complete the first two pages. I started here:

Finished page 2:

And I'm now here at the start of page 3 of 6:

35th Anniversary Celebration barely got touched (I really hate working with this navy material). I started here:

And only made it here:

None of my "Plan To Start" projects got touched other than the secret project (which got finished):

The rest stay in the stash for next year:
Sleepy Hollow Mural:

Angel In Lilac:

Tanglewood:

Or Abigail Patecleaver:

I did start a new project not on the "Plan To Start" list - The Princess And The Pea. It was a mid-year purchase and I couldn't wait to get started on it. I'm now here on the second row:

So, all in all, not a complete failure, but nowhere near any goals. I'm going to be much more realistic for next year and limit the projects a bit more. I'm not entirely sure I'm gonna participate in the WIPocalypse for 2014. I'm not a big fan of posting things on specific dates and since they've added a question of the month as well, that might be too much interaction for me. I'm leaning toward just making my own goals and trying to stick to them. We'll see.

April WIPocalypse 2013

I'm still working on the "secret project" and, since it's the only project I've been working on, I can't show any progress for this WIPocalypse.

The A to Z Challenge is coming to an end soon, I do have to say, it's been nice to be offline so much. Days go by where I don't even pull out my laptop when I get home. It's amazing how working in IT has changed my home computing life, that and a little pup named Bam who wants to be held 24/7 (hence the reason why I'm still working on the "secret project").

WIPocalypse March 2013

As per usual, I'm a bit late with this month's WIPocalypse. It was a pretty slow stitching month, but I did get my new one started, The Princess And The Pea. I guess there is really no need to show a blank canvas, so here is where I made it to (which is not nearly as far as I wanted to be):
pea013

I also did a bit on A Summer Ball - it ended here last month:
asb031

and I got to here:
asb033

Hopefully next month will be better, but I haven't been in a stitching mood lately, so no promises!

WIPocalypse Feb 2013

I have done it! I can't believe it! My head is killing me today, but there was no way in Hades I was gonna quit till I finished. My first ever HAED is complete, ahead of schedule and just in time for this month's WIPocalypse!
AWTTH155

Here she is in all her Scottish beauty!
AWTTH156

I do feel surprisingly numb, but it may be because cannons are going off in my head, bouncing off the sides like popcorn in a popper. We'll see how I feel tomorrow. I also need to decide if I'm starting my next two now, or waiting a little while. I might work on A Summer Ball and get it out of the way. Plus, I have my secret project to start as well.

The only other project I worked on this month was The 35th Anniversary Celebration:

I also have the gigantic task of teaching my Mother how to cross stitch! To make matters worse, I'm starting her off with a HAED! But I do honestly think they are easier than a kit, just a lot more stitching is involved. We'll see how she does!

Now it's time for Stadol and bed.

Jan 2013 WIPocalypse

I started this year with A Walk Through The Highlands here:
AWTTH107

Here she is in full:
AWTTH131

And ended here, a whole row down and starting my very last row of this incredible journey:
AWTTH134

All in all, a fair amount of work I'd say! But the same can't be said for my other two. A Summer Ball started here:
asb030

And only made it to here:
asb031

And 35th Anniversary started here:
disney015

And just made it to here, with a bit more of Widowmaker's mane:
disney016

I've pulled out the "secret" project out as well as Tanglewood. Whether or not I start them in the next month is anybody's guess!

WIPocalypse 2013

After admiring the progress of others over the past year, I decided to sign up myself! WIPocalypse is a Stitch Along (SAL). You basically set your goals and try your hardest to complete them. Once a month on the full moon you post your progress. So without further ado, here's where I'm at and where I want to be:

AWTTH107
A Walk Through The Highlands - I would like to be completely finished with this by the end of February, and at my current rate, I should hit my goal.

asb030
A Summer Ball - This will be a harder finish, but I want it done by the end of the year.

disney015
35th Anniversary Celebration - Another end of the year finish (hopefully), and well past due considering Disney World had their 40th Anniversary last year!

Now on to the "plan to start" projects:

Sleepy Hollow Mural
Sleepy Hollow Mural - It's been hard enough not starting this already, but I would like to finish A Walk Through The Highlands First before I start another HAED.

QS angel in lilac
My first HAED Quick Stitch: Angel In Lilac - I absolutely love Jasmine Beckett-Griffith's work now and I have several of the JBG HAED's to do. Considering this is a Quick Stitch, hopefully it will go much faster (although the detail level isn't near as good as a full version).

IMG_0007
Tanglewood - I've had this for quite a while, but watching someone else's progress got me in the mood to start again. I also would like to complete this one by the end of the year. This will also be my first real project on non-evenweave linen (I don't count The Ribbon Topiary).

Last but certainly not least, Abigail Patecleaver - My first attempt at actually stitching my own design. It's incredibly large with about 200 colors, so it's gonna be the hardest thing I've ever done. If I don't start the stretching portraits soon though, I'll be long dead before I ever get to finish them. Hopefully since Abigail is my favorite Stretching Portrait, it will help me work on it more, now Alexander Nitrokoff will be an entirely different story!

Oh, and there is one project (which I can't post a picture of because it's a gift for someone) that I will be finishing this year as well.

And that's it, my WIPocalypse goals for 2013!
