Disney Springs (formerly Downtown Disney/formerly Walt Disney World Village/formerly the Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village...Disney likes their name changes) has grown so much over the past year (and continues to grow exponentially) that we had to hit at least one of the new restaurants! For our first choice, we went with Morimoto Asia, which is across from Raglan Road (review of RR HERE). It had only been open less than a month when we ate there, so there were more than a few bugs with the process (more on that later).
On the outside it is truly beautiful with lighted letters across the side:
And the inside was just as beautiful with a modern twist to it (and the lights were AH-MAZ-ING!). At least this is a much better picture of my Sister (so she won't kill me if she sees these):
There were hanging lights and bottle lights:
And even industrial-style lights:
Fresh flowers were everywhere and the smell was a bit overpowering:
As well as pictures of people...I'm not sure if they were random people or important people or workers in the restaurant, but they did dominate all the inner walls. Me personally, I think they were just a cultural representation, but what do I know?
The view behind me was this and I'm glad it was to the back of me...the ducks gagged me a bit:
Down to the nitty-gritty...I did NOT like the water glasses. They gave this weird coloring that made the water seem dirty (also, forgive the look my Sister's face, the table next to us did something weird at the exact moment and since I was taking a picture of the glasses, I didn't notice her until processing):
Drink wise, I ordered the Hibiscus Sazerac, which has Absinthe in it (which I love), but this thing was NAS-TY! It literally took me the entire meal to finish the one drink.
Amber was smart and got the White Lily and it was amazing (I should have got that):
Appetizer-wise, Am got the spare ribs and I got the Rangoons (which were more like Spring Rolls), but both were really good:
Now, on to the food. What I missed during the waiter's description was that all the food was "a la carte", so when he asked what side I wanted with my steak, I chose veggies (which I didn't get a picture of for some reason). Had I known that it was going to cost an arm and a leg for those veggies (which I barely ate any of anyway because the steak was so big), I would not have ordered them. Next time I'll pay closer attention. I think Amber ordered rice, but since I didn't get a picture, I can't say for sure.
My steak was the rib-eye and Am had the Black Pepper Steak and what she didn't count on was that it was so spicy, she almost couldn't eat it. Again, we should have ordered opposite meals since I love spicy:
Because there was SOOO much food, neither of us got dessert. Considering that the drinks, the appetizers and the sides were out of pocket and we wasted dining credits on just the food (since we didn't get dessert), I think the overage bill was still like $200 after tip. It was a good meal, but definitely NOT worth $200!! And, had we not used dining credits, it would have been closer to $350. Oh, and it was a Signature Restaurant, so we wasted two dining credits apiece. I felt like crying since my Sister was paying and even she was wincing when the bill came (and she never does that). I kicked myself for ordering those veggies, the appetizer, as well as that nasty drink that was like $15, all night and probably part of the next day. The steak was plenty on its own.
Overall, the food really good, but more planning needs to go into it before we eat there again. Our server was a bit on the lax side and we were sat next to a huge table of people who were quite loud at times (in addition to the loudness of the restaurant overall), so my Asper-ness was in a higher plane than usual (which is probably why I missed the server's descriptions). But there are so many new restaurants going in at Disney Springs, it will be a while before we go there again anyway (and hopefully they will have all the kinks worked out by then).

Look at that steak!! No wonder you couldn't it the veg too.
Still does sound quite pricey despite the big size plate.
