Disney Reviews: Restaurant Edition #17 - Coral Reef Restaurant
Located in Epcot's Future World, Coral Reef is located tucked into a back corner of The Seas With Nemo and Friends:
We love this place, but a lot of people don't. I don't see what's not to love about a restaurant that has a massive aquarium with live divers floating around in it! The food is really good (although not fabulous), but again, as with most things Disney, it's all about the atmosphere. Let's look around a bit before we get to the food:
We've eaten there a couple of times, so let's look at the most recent first, 2012 -
The food may only be good, but the drinks are amazing!
Am and I got the same entrees this year, it was some sort of lobster pasta:
I don't remember what dessert Am had:
But I had a blood orange cake (and it puts the grapefruit cake at Brown Derby to shame):
In 2005, the drinks were also amazing (I LOVE blue food)!
Am and I also got the same dish this year as well, a shrimp pasta:
As well as an extra lobster tail:
Am watching the divers:
This is one of those places that gets a bad rep, but a lot of it has to do with the fact that since it's in Epcot, it's surrounded by some of the best restaurants in Disney World and, since the food is just good and not excellent, most people think it can't compete. But a lot of the Epcot restaurants, particularly the ones in World Showcase, tend to focus more on the food than the theming. If I'm bored with my surroundings, then I tend to be bored with the food. If the food is good and the atmosphere is exciting, then I'm over the moon! It's all about how you eat I guess.
