Disney Reviews: Restaurant Edition #12 - Rainforest Cafe

I've already reviewed Rainforest's sister restaurant T-Rex (see full review HERE), so this one should be a bit easier since I don't have to give as much background.

We first ate here in 1999 (my first adult trip) and, at the time, I was hooked. In later years, it has become a bit more of an Asper-irritant and I prefer T-Rex anyway. We will end up back there someday, I just can't see it for the immediate future.

There are two locations of Rainforest, one in Downtown Disney (which is where we ate in 1999, so forgive the picture quality):
1999-0071
1999-0073
1999-0075
the old volcano:
1999-0070
Better pics from 2005:
2005-0657
2005-0656
2005-0658

The second location is at Disney's Animal Kingdom (which we first ate at in 2004). For a long time, it was really the only sit-down restaurant at Animal Kingdom, but that has changed over the years. It can be accessed either outside the park:
2004a-0299
2004a-0300
or inside:
2004-0269
2004-0270
(thought I'd throw in some Am and Matty for good measure)

my first solo of 2006 (with better outside pics):
2006-0267
2006-0268
2006-0276
2006-0277
2006-0271
2006-0273
(because I was seated right next to an elephant and the thunderstorm had him in conniptions, it was NOT a pleasant dining experience)

Since I was with my sister in 2007, we tried the AK location once more:
2007-0157
2007-0161
But I think that my experience in 2006 was just too much of a bad memory and we haven't been back to either location since. 2009 saw us going to T-Rex for the first time and we really haven't looked back. As far as Animal Kingdom goes, now that they have Yak & Yeti, it fills the void there quite nicely, so we don't really need to go to Rainforest there either.

The Downtown location got a pretty extensive exterior rehab last year, and I have a pic of the new volcano:
2013 (12)-0140
and a shot of it going off at night (it goes off in sync with the inside thunderstorm):
2013 (12)-2096

But lets get to the food, shall we! Remember, I didn't take food pictures before 2005, so that is where they start.

Drinks (in collectible light up cups - these are the ones that I mentioned didn't make it home in one piece):
2005-0655
Appetizers:
2005-0659
2005-0660
Then entrees:
2005-0661
2005-0662

Solo 2006:
2006-0272
2006-0274
(as if the restaurant antics and the rude staff wasn't enough that year, the mound of sour cream on my plate gagged me the entire time)
2006-0275
(and the bacon-wrapped scallops made me sick later on)

2007 was better because I LOVE icees!
2007-0156
but, despite asking for no sour cream - my wallflowerness guaranteed I would get it yet again:
2007-0158
Am's appetizer was practically a meal and that was all she had:
2007-0160
but here's my entree (same as previous year):
2007-0159

The food is a bit generic, but this is another one of those you go to for atmosphere (until it got to be too much and the food wasn't enough of a draw to get us to go). Like I mentioned in my T-Rex review, the food is very similar, just with different names (obviously Rainforest's names are jungle/animal themed versus T-Rex's dinosaur theme).

Just a final pic bunch...the Downtown shop (where we spend a crap load of money because the T-shirts are really cheap if you buy them in multiples):
2009-1274
2009-1273
2009-1275
Despite not eating there in a few years, I still get one of my co-workers a Cha Cha Frog figurine every single trip. It's pretty much become a tradition and a challenge to find something different...she has soap, keychains, pens, figures, plush, almost anyway I can get him! He's the character poking out at you in the picture above.

And that's it for Rainforest...not as glowing as T-Rex, but kids seem to love it (if you have them) and I would still eat there again (once I get the courage up, that is).

Happy 13th Blogoversary to the worst blogger ever!

Yep, I'm still here. This is the first time I've touched any blog in months. My focus has been in the "me" world. I have a new therapist and it's still early days, but I'm doing much better both mentally and physically. Work always sucks, so that's already a dead horse. And both pups are still hangin in there. My last post was probably the last time I stitched or at least my last Instragram post was. Maleficent still isn't framed, she's still in her ziploc baggie on the kitchen table. Bad me all around. I'm getting worse at this whole social media thing, what little I do. My job is tech burnout, so by the time I get home, the only tech I touch is my TV. The thought of creating a blog post or human communication in any way is just too much. I do have two vacations coming up, so that's exciting, right? I haven't felt like sharing, so very few people around me know about these. The first is a birthday trip to Boulder, j...

A to Z Challenge - B

PART 1 - JANE AUSTEN ALPHABET-COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BRANDON A much better hero than Edward Ferrars in my opinion PART 2 - MY DISNEY COLLECTION-BOOKS Obviously the age limit on books means very little to me: Do magazines count as books? Well, they are on the book row and they are Disney related, so there you go! There are several more shelves of these and they get more movement than anything else because their weight tends to kill bookshelves rather quickly. It helps to shuffle them around upon occasion to give the poor shelves a breather.

A to Z Reflections Post

I'm going to try not to be as wordy as previous years (but no promises). I did two challenges this year, my Jane Austen Alphabet Cross Stitch project, which is now complete: I haven't gotten it framed yet...heck, I still haven't gotten last year's framed either, so there is no telling when it will get done. Thanks to my friend Tiff for her suggestion of the blue fabric over the brown...she made the right choice I think! There is really nothing more to add on my second challenge, My Disney Collection, other than I have realized that my OCD apparently isn't strong enough to focus me in one particular direction. I like to think I have a Duck Room and a Princess/Villains room, but it's more like a Duck/Stitch/Parks room, a Mickey Bathroom, a Disney-themed kitchen, a living room filled with various objects, and a Princess and Villains bedroom. I don't think as a whole, they look so bad, it just looked a bit hoarderish when I divided them up into categori...
