C - Disney Alphabet Cross Stitch/Needle Club-Week 5

This is another double duty post, so I'll get the challenge post taken care of first.

My "C" pick for my custom chart from CloudsFactory is yet another Disney Princess. Next to Sleeping Beauty, there are two other Princesses that I consider to be part of the "Holy Trinity" of Disney Princesses and my "C" choice is one of them. Where Sleeping Beauty had a profound effect on me from an artistic standpoint, my "C" choice had an entirely different effect on me, and it's a bit personal, so just scroll down if you only wanna see the pic.

I grew up with a step-dad that I thought was "wicked" (now I know he's just an insecure bully...but that's another matter for another day) and a step-mother who I thought hung the moon and the stars (boy, was I wrong on THAT front!). Up to a certain point, my step-dad was the only dad I really had (my real father was more of a visitor to my life versus a dad). Then my sister came along and everything changed. She was protected from everything I was exposed to, I no longer existed as a "real" child of my step family now that they had a blood link, and I felt like the neglected daughter reduced to the status of a maid. I think that's why my "C" was so important to me...she taught me to stay strong and hold on till things get better (and they did...eventually).

So, in case you haven't guessed yet, "C" is for Cinderella:

I'm also having issues with just working on one character a day. I initially thought I could override my OCD and switch to Princess and the Pea once a character was finished, but I should have known better. I'm just not built that way. So I think I'm gonna try working on other characters, but just not finishing them until their scheduled day. I'll just have to see.

Now time for Needle Club news...it was another small group, just two of us, but I did manage quite a lot of work. I'm still in pink hell, but hopefully I will be able to switch to something/anything else soon.

And I hope your story has a Prince Charming at the end of it. Your threadwork is stunning, I'm hopeless with a needle :(

I used to tell my step-grandma that I was Cinderella in my home. C was always my favorite princess and my dress for Junior prom was blue like hers. However, I never really was Cinderella for real. So sorry you felt like you were.

What a cool project.
Some children get all the luck and chores (even in real life)

I'm sad about your family history, but Cinder is cool no matter what. I'm glad she has a special place in your heart. I have an Aspie character in the novel I'm writing. I'm researching to do the condition justice. It's hard because there can be so many accompanying disorders, too, and everyone falls on the spectrum differently. Wishing you the very best. D is tomorrow. You've done three princesses in a row, but I can't think of one that starts with D. Could you be making an elephant with rather large ears? Hmmmm.

You do very nice work! I am sorry you had the childhood you did; glad you did have a sister who seemed to be there for you!

Happy 13th Blogoversary to the worst blogger ever!

Yep, I'm still here. This is the first time I've touched any blog in months. My focus has been in the "me" world. I have a new therapist and it's still early days, but I'm doing much better both mentally and physically. Work always sucks, so that's already a dead horse. And both pups are still hangin in there. My last post was probably the last time I stitched or at least my last Instragram post was. Maleficent still isn't framed, she's still in her ziploc baggie on the kitchen table. Bad me all around. I'm getting worse at this whole social media thing, what little I do. My job is tech burnout, so by the time I get home, the only tech I touch is my TV. The thought of creating a blog post or human communication in any way is just too much. I do have two vacations coming up, so that's exciting, right? I haven't felt like sharing, so very few people around me know about these. The first is a birthday trip to Boulder, j...

A to Z Challenge - B

PART 1 - JANE AUSTEN ALPHABET-COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BRANDON A much better hero than Edward Ferrars in my opinion PART 2 - MY DISNEY COLLECTION-BOOKS Obviously the age limit on books means very little to me: Do magazines count as books? Well, they are on the book row and they are Disney related, so there you go! There are several more shelves of these and they get more movement than anything else because their weight tends to kill bookshelves rather quickly. It helps to shuffle them around upon occasion to give the poor shelves a breather.

A to Z Reflections Post

I'm going to try not to be as wordy as previous years (but no promises). I did two challenges this year, my Jane Austen Alphabet Cross Stitch project, which is now complete: I haven't gotten it framed yet...heck, I still haven't gotten last year's framed either, so there is no telling when it will get done. Thanks to my friend Tiff for her suggestion of the blue fabric over the brown...she made the right choice I think! There is really nothing more to add on my second challenge, My Disney Collection, other than I have realized that my OCD apparently isn't strong enough to focus me in one particular direction. I like to think I have a Duck Room and a Princess/Villains room, but it's more like a Duck/Stitch/Parks room, a Mickey Bathroom, a Disney-themed kitchen, a living room filled with various objects, and a Princess and Villains bedroom. I don't think as a whole, they look so bad, it just looked a bit hoarderish when I divided them up into categori...
