"K" - A to Z Challenge - Walt Disney World

Let's jump right in with "K"!

First up - Kingdom Keepers. I'm sure you're asking what a book series has to do with Disney World...well, if you've read them, then you'll know! They are a series of books set in WDW and since the fifth one just came out, I figured it was apropos to include them in my Disney list. There are a few inaccuracies, some of which the author, Ridley Pearson, blames on poetic license, others I think are just lack of familiarity with the parks, but if you can get past them, it's a pretty good read!

The basic premise is that a group of kids get picked to be models for holograms, only to discover that they are more tied to their holograms than they thought because in their dreams they are transported inside the parks and have to battle the parks audioanimatronics run by the queen of mean, Maleficent!

The very first book I bought in Disney World, which makes it more special, and read it on the plane on the way home. They are childrens books and read as such, but hey, what adult hasn't read Harry Potter or Artemis Fowl or Percy Jackson! Ridley Pearson has also written several Peter Pan books as well, so he does know Disney!

The franchise has spread to an online game, a possible movie in the future, and an entire online community!  I actually haven't read books 4 and 5 yet because I need to re-read all the others first, but I'll get around to it eventually.

Next up, Kali River Rapids - now, I like a good water ride as well as the next person, but I don't like getting as wet as you do on this one! It's crazy! I think you'd be less wet just walking through the river! We don't ride it anymore, but if you venture to do it, definitely take a change of clothes (and, for the record, rain slickers don't work because once the water comes over the sides and soaks the plastic seats, you're screwed because your pants just soak it right up and the floor fills with water as well, so there goes your shoes too!

Here's a POV video just to show...at first it doesn't look so bad, but keep watching!

Kona Cafe - and you probably thought I forgot the food! I've given a mini review of Kona when I did my Polynesian Resort review. We're not gonna eat there this year because last time was just so-so and we're getting in a bit of a restaurant rut, but it's still amazing overall. Two words come to mind when I think of Kona - STICKY WINGS (although Am might say Fire Rock)!

Another one down!

Happy 13th Blogoversary to the worst blogger ever!

Yep, I'm still here. This is the first time I've touched any blog in months. My focus has been in the "me" world. I have a new therapist and it's still early days, but I'm doing much better both mentally and physically. Work always sucks, so that's already a dead horse. And both pups are still hangin in there. My last post was probably the last time I stitched or at least my last Instragram post was. Maleficent still isn't framed, she's still in her ziploc baggie on the kitchen table. Bad me all around. I'm getting worse at this whole social media thing, what little I do. My job is tech burnout, so by the time I get home, the only tech I touch is my TV. The thought of creating a blog post or human communication in any way is just too much. I do have two vacations coming up, so that's exciting, right? I haven't felt like sharing, so very few people around me know about these. The first is a birthday trip to Boulder, j...

A to Z Challenge - B

PART 1 - JANE AUSTEN ALPHABET-COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BRANDON A much better hero than Edward Ferrars in my opinion PART 2 - MY DISNEY COLLECTION-BOOKS Obviously the age limit on books means very little to me: Do magazines count as books? Well, they are on the book row and they are Disney related, so there you go! There are several more shelves of these and they get more movement than anything else because their weight tends to kill bookshelves rather quickly. It helps to shuffle them around upon occasion to give the poor shelves a breather.

A to Z Reflections Post

I'm going to try not to be as wordy as previous years (but no promises). I did two challenges this year, my Jane Austen Alphabet Cross Stitch project, which is now complete: I haven't gotten it framed yet...heck, I still haven't gotten last year's framed either, so there is no telling when it will get done. Thanks to my friend Tiff for her suggestion of the blue fabric over the brown...she made the right choice I think! There is really nothing more to add on my second challenge, My Disney Collection, other than I have realized that my OCD apparently isn't strong enough to focus me in one particular direction. I like to think I have a Duck Room and a Princess/Villains room, but it's more like a Duck/Stitch/Parks room, a Mickey Bathroom, a Disney-themed kitchen, a living room filled with various objects, and a Princess and Villains bedroom. I don't think as a whole, they look so bad, it just looked a bit hoarderish when I divided them up into categori...
