Need help! Problems!

Thought things were going well with A Walk Through The Highlands...I was getting used to the soft lugana and I was loving the 2x1...until I met two colors together. Then the problems started! I HATE how it looks! For those who have used 25ct before, did you do 2x1 or 1x1? If you did 2x1, how did the heavy coverage effect when the colors met? I'm seriously debating starting over before I get much further.

I know it's really hard to tell from the picture, but because of the heavy coverage, it's showing every little flaw and the two color meeting points look awful in my way overly hypercritical eyes.

Before I get any further, I could either restart and do 1x1 or get some 28ct and do 1x1 and not have to worry about the less coverage. I could also do 22ct and do 2x1, but the entire project would be even bigger! More than likely, I'm not going to be able to keep on...it's eating me alive.

Haven't been working on A Summer Ball much. I was afraid I'd end up focusing on one project, but here's where I am with it:

Personally I stitch 1X1 on 25ct. Does it look wrong when close up or when being looked at from the distance it will be when finished and framed? I though some of mine look wierd but when you move back and see it from a distance it looks fine. Hope this helps :)

Oh sweetie!!! Don't do 2 over 1 on 25ct. You'd be tearing your hair out. The only reason you'd do that is if you're tenting... and I read backwards (sorry.... catching up on blog reading yet again) and I see that you're X'ing them.

Problem with 2 over too, is that it gets so thick that you don't see the X's and just looks generally bulky.

I'd strongly suggest 1 over 1 on 25ct for sure. I understand though, that when you're up close the coverage is not 100%, but you won't be looking at the full picture up close.... at 4 or more feet away, you won't see the fabbie. If you really hate the coverage of 1 ply, then perhaps do 2 ply on 22 or 18 ct?

That's exactly what I'm doing! Pulling my hair out! At first the fullness looked perfect, until the two colors met, then chaos! Should I maybe try charcoal 25ct 1x1 to hide the material? Or should I go up to 28ct? Surprisingly, I'm not having trouble seeing the 25ct, so I would think I would be OK with the the 28ct too. This being my first HAED, I just wanted it to be perfect! Damn OCD!

I find stitching 1x1 on 25 count is brutal on Dublin linen, but not on Lugana, as it seems to have a nicer weave. I think you will be a lot happier with the results 1x1, and if you step back, you won't even notice the material showing through.

When I use 25 ct I do 1x1, however I have recently started Sadness of an Angel on 22 ct using 1x1 and am loving it so much more then 25 ct.

Does the pattern have a lot of white and light colors in it? Cos they might not appear as white as charted if stitched on charcoal.

Personally, I prefer dark on light fabbie as opposed to light on dark fabbie... But it's a personal preference. :)

If you have 28ct if your stash, I'd suggest doing some test stitching and seeing which you'd prefer. :)

PART 1 - JANE AUSTEN ALPHABET-COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BRANDON A much better hero than Edward Ferrars in my opinion PART 2 - MY DISNEY COLLECTION-BOOKS Obviously the age limit on books means very little to me: Do magazines count as books? Well, they are on the book row and they are Disney related, so there you go! There are several more shelves of these and they get more movement than anything else because their weight tends to kill bookshelves rather quickly. It helps to shuffle them around upon occasion to give the poor shelves a breather.

A to Z Reflections Post

I'm going to try not to be as wordy as previous years (but no promises). I did two challenges this year, my Jane Austen Alphabet Cross Stitch project, which is now complete: I haven't gotten it framed yet...heck, I still haven't gotten last year's framed either, so there is no telling when it will get done. Thanks to my friend Tiff for her suggestion of the blue fabric over the brown...she made the right choice I think! There is really nothing more to add on my second challenge, My Disney Collection, other than I have realized that my OCD apparently isn't strong enough to focus me in one particular direction. I like to think I have a Duck Room and a Princess/Villains room, but it's more like a Duck/Stitch/Parks room, a Mickey Bathroom, a Disney-themed kitchen, a living room filled with various objects, and a Princess and Villains bedroom.
