Disney Reviews Ride Edition #10: It's A Small World

Some people have nightmares of getting stuck on this ride. Ridley Pearson basically horrorized the dolls in one of his Kingdom Keeper books. I personally actually love It's A Small World and never get sick of riding it! Call me crazy and yes, I have been stuck on it before (although only a few minutes, not like the 45 minutes I got stuck on Pirates last year), but the song really doesn't get old to me and the dolls never get creepy (although we used to really make fun of crack-head girl before they put her through "rehab"...I'll find her picture later).

I take multiple pictures on this ride every single trip, so I'm pretty much just going to show pictures from the last trip, although we might jump a bit back to the past. The entry sign is what changes the most including it's placement. In 1981, it was closer to Pinocchio's Village Haus:

2004a-0119
Eventually it was moved more centered and across from Peter Pan's Flight:
2006-0469
and by the end of 2013, it had moved almost all the way down to the new castle walls extending off the Rapunzel bathroom section:

Here you can even almost tell where the other two openings used to be:

But here is the very front as of now:

Even the entry queue has changed quite a bit over the years. The actual entry queue location change affected direction of crowd flow, but sometimes they changed it for seemingly no reason. One year you'd go left, one you'd go right. The area underwent a massive rehab somewhere around 2005/2006 I think and went all white, making it look more like the Disneyland version:

and let's travel back to 2004 when it was extremely colorful:

Due to an argument that I don't even really remember (but basically I was wrong), my lovely "angel" of a Sister likes to remind me (ever so kindly) Pinocchio Village Haus Restaurant overlooks the boats for Small World (my middle finger is swinging around behind the camera):

Time to start the ride!

My main goal is always to get the Scottish Piper, but considering he's almost right in the entry way, it's always tough to get the camera adjusted right off the bat to get a good one of him. I've only managed it a couple of times:

2008-0255
2006-0471
Most trips I try to zoom in on sections, but last trip I did a bit more wide angle shots and ended up liking them better, so we'll go with samples of those:

Here is crackhead girl before "rehab" (third on right):
2004-0263
And I scoured throughout the years since, but apparently, although I have seen she's no longer got a crackhead mouth, I haven't actually taken a picture of it...oh well, goal for next time!
2014-0845
I have managed to get the second piper close up a few times:
2008-0256
and just as important are the goodbyes!

During the last trip I got to see the clock go off for the first time ever and I was like a little kid jumping up and down with excitement...it's a definite goal for Disneyland:
2014-0874
Everyone threw a fit when they added Disney characters to the Small World in Disneyland but I think that is what I'm most looking forward to seeing there, well, that and the exterior boat ride part. I just hope T can stomach the 10+ minutes of the song like I can!

I like this ride but the song drives me nuts 1/2 way through!
