January IHSW

Can't believe it's already time to sign up for the first International Hermit and Stitch Weekend for 2015, but it is! Granted, every single one of my weekends are pretty much an IHSW's anyway, but I always try to sign up. For those unaware of what an IHSW is, it's basically a weekend dedicated to nothing but stitching, typically falling on the third weekend of the month and graciously hosted by the wonderful, marvelous, and amazing Joysze over at Random Ramblings. Once the weekend is over, you post your progress and then you get to browse the blogs of the other participants to see their progress (I may not always comment, but I pretty much always look). For anyone who wants to sign up, the link is HERE.

Hopefully I will be able to get out of the navy on Maleficent and move on to the next (probably navy-ish) shade. For all the bad things I can say about the dithering (and have done so), at least it does lend itself well to cross-country stitching because I'm almost all the way across the row for that color. I'm also hoping to finish page 1 of Alice and get out of its dark color world. Even though it started with the same color as Maleficent, I've moved on to black now (although you can't really tell from the pictures since the colors are so close). There should be some green leaves and a Rapunzel starting to appear on page 2 and I'm excited to start branching out into some shapes and faces instead of background (whereas I'm not so lucky on that front with Maleficent, it's pretty much all background with a character in the middle).

Hooray for Joyce and IHSW. :) I'm finally signing up again after maybe a year hiatus. I like that it's falling on a long weekend for me, and I hope you get an extra day off as well.
