A to Z Challenge - L

PART 1 - JANE AUSTEN ALPHABET-MISS LYDIA BENNET

Austen Alphabet12
I'm not sure anyone deserves Wickham, but Lydia comes close. I'm not sure I agree with her design...seems a bit too "sweet" for Lydia.

PART 2 - MY DISNEY COLLECTION-LANYARDS AND PINS, OH MY!

Did I mention that my pins are the biggest collection of Disney items I have? They are a NIGHTMARE to store. There is no good system for them in large quantities although there are plenty for normal-sized collections ("normal" is definitely NOT my thing). Disney no longer sells the black binders, and since the ones they have now are...in a word...ugly, I have to get binders from office supply stores and they are never the same sizes. They make pin bags, but again, I would have to have at least a dozen (which is out because they are expensive) and I would still have to store them somehow. At least the binders have a bit of stability to them. I've debated getting something like a map cabinet, put a piece of foam core in the drawers and mount away, but I can neither afford a map drawer nor do I have the space for one. Needless to say, this is the mess I have now:

and don't get me started on the amount of wall space for framed sets and big pins:

I know that pins are meant for "trading" in general, but I don't get the logic behind that notion. Why would I buy a pin just to trade it for another later? I could just as easily buy the extra one I want and if it's retired, well, that's what eBay is for. Besides, being an Asper, there is no limit to the issues of pin trading...interacting, no...trading=sharing, no, bringing attention to myself by wearing pins, no. Oh, and in case you are wondering (and since I'm still in a Haunted Mansion mood), here is what a page in the book looks like:

I have no clue how many pages I have or how many pins are on each page...in all honesty, I'm a bit scared to count. I do keep a theme to the books and most pages are ordered accordingly.

Remember the mess in the closet? Part of it is two large boxes that contain nothing but the pin backs and boxes. Everytime I clean up the closet and see these, I debate throwing them out, but I just can't bring myself to do it. It's not like I would ever be able to match the pins with their original backs anyway, just another pack-rat item.

At least pulling these out to take pictures meant I could add the past couple Disney trips contributions to the boxes.

I love your Haunted Mansion page Keiley. Are the framed pieces on the wall from your house. They are all stunning. Your one lucky lady to have such an awesome Disney collection. I love it all.

When I was a kid it was big to trade hockey club pins, minor hockey, etc. and my brother and I did that for a bit, but I never really got the idea out of it either. Love your collection, wow! Lydia looks good, maybe it's pre-Wickham?

I'm with you on the trading. After all, you buy them because you want them, why would you give them away?

You must live close to Disney? I live about 8-10 hours away and there's zero way I could afford to visit a few times a year, this is what drives the price up.

Wow, that is a serial number of pins! I am most impressed. I wish you luck in your organisation and storage issues.
