Top 10 Tuesdays

The Suddenly Kate Show

This is going to be a nada Top 10 Tuesday for me, so make sure to go to Kate's and Tiff's blogs for a real post. I just wanted to lend my support to them.

This week's topic is Top Ten Christmas movies or movies I want to watch at Christmastime, which is why this is a no-go post for me. I don't watch Christmas movies for Christmas purposes. I have seen most all the classic movies and all the Disney specials, but I just don't dwell on them. Maybe it's because growing up we were forced to watch the same batch of movies over and over again during this time of year...The Wizard of Oz, The Ten Commandments, Gone with the Wind (which really aren't Christmas-themed, but that's when they were typically shown back in my day), Miracle on 34th Street, It's A Wonderful Life, etc. Then there was the whole breed of animated/stop-animation movies like Grinch, Charlie Brown, etc. When the torture that is A Christmas Story came out, it was cute the first couple of times, but when my step-dad really took to it, we were forced to watch it constantly. Now that they play that movie for a 24 hour stint on some channels, I absolutely HATE it! Does anyone really sit and watch a 24-hour marathon of that movie? Really?

About the only Christmas movie I really ever did like was White Christmas, and probably because it was more of a romantic movie than an actual Christmas movie (and I love the old classics). When I had "regular" TV, I wouldn't ever turn the channel if it was on, although I never looked for it to air. Now since I live off of Hulu and Netflix, unless they show it, I won't bother.

But, and there is always a but, isn't there? When I had regular TV, I did watch a lot of the Hallmark Channel around this time of year, not because of all the Christmas-themed movies, but because most all of them were romantic comedies set in the time of Christmas (which is different and tolerable). Part of me kind of misses that this year, but not enough to pay for cable again. Besides, right now I am so obsessed with Bones, I don't have time to watch those anyway.

So, my one and only top 10 item this week is:

Sorry guys! I debated on doing a top 10 list of Christmas movies I hate, but I'm trying not to be so negative this year as in previous Christmastimes.

Oh, and I'm not counting The Nightmare Before Christmas in this list (which is one of my favorite movies of all-time), simply because I consider it a Halloween movie and not a Christmas one. I know that sounds stupid, but I think if I ever classified it as a Christmas movie, I wouldn't like it as much.

I love the Christmas movies lol but I like the hallmark channel ones too for the same reason. Some of them may be available on Netflix or Hulu. I haven't looked but I know some of them they sell on dvd. I hate a Christmas story lol I've never seen white Christmas and just watched its a wonderful life for the first time a few days ago (hubby wanted to watch it). I fell asleep right after he jumped in the river lol. Ah well c'est la vie!
